Oshan answered, her tone both proud and worried.
"Yes. Lady Evelise works very hard. She might really love this person. Her dedication is stronger than last time. She might truly wish to help this person."
Sid shot her a side eye. "You know you can't keep a secret, right? This 'person' you keep talking about is me. No one else is alive right now, and I'm the only human here."
Oshan's eyes widened. She was absolutely caught, and her expression didn't even try to hide it.
"I shall prepare dinner. I believe I shall attempt to combine the remaining beans with the scavenged root vegetables in a slow braise—"
Sid cut her off instantly, stepping in front of her. He could not, physically or mentally, handle another kitchen disaster or more smoke.
"Stop. Just stop," Sid said, holding up both hands. "No more smoke. No more pyromania. No more spontaneous evaporation of our food supply."
