Chapter 1 - Escape

"What the fuck, it looks like the earth swallowed him!" Hidan shouted, extremely irritated, his gun in hand.

"Where the hell is that bastard?" Kakuzu asked, trying to see in the darkness of that winding road. With the rain approaching that night, seeing was a nearly impossible task.

"What are we going to do, Hidan?"

"We have to find that son of a bitch and finish the job. He knows too much, and Danzou won't forgive us."

"What the fuck! Come on, get in the car, let's use the headlights. He might have gone into the woods." They both got in the car, searching for Naruto Uzumaki. The simple accounting clerk was now a real threat. Naruto had seen too much, knew too much, and he definitely can't go on living.

"You know, Kakuzu, that shot you fired... do you really think the bastard's going to live?"

"Of course not, he lost a lot of blood, but we have to be sure."

...

"Damn it, I can't do it, it hurts so much!"

Naruto walked through the forest. He couldn't see anything in front of him, but he felt his skin being pricked by thorny plants, and some vines bounced off his face, making him fall a few times.

"Come on, Naruto!"

He said to himself, searching for one last breath. He could even die, but he would never surrender to those filthy scoundrels. He never imagined his Monday would end like this, becoming a moving target for assassins. Worse still, he didn't have time to tell his friend Sasuke everything he had witnessed that morning.

That's why he was so determined to survive, to stay alive to tell his friend who was responsible for his father Fukaku Uchiha's death. The news had probably already made all the news.

He stopped walking, ducking into the crevice of the tree as soon as he heard the sound of a car approaching. He was breathing heavily, feeling cold sweat run down the back of his neck, and his legs gave out as he fell to the ground, begging God to help him in this situation.

"Forget it, Hidan. We'll never find him in this darkness, and this forest is too dense." He could hear the outlaws talking so close he was afraid to even breathe.

"Okay, we'll be back tomorrow morning, his body will definitely be here. Call Danzou." They got back in the car and headed back to the road. After a few minutes, Naruto emerged from the crevice and continued walking. He needed to find a safe place to shelter at any cost.

After long minutes that felt more like hours, when he was almost giving up and giving in to exhaustion, he came across something. It was a cabin, near what must have been a lake. He wasn't sure. It was still very dark.

He looked up at the sky, thanking the miracle. With great difficulty, he circled the area. He heard a horse neighing. Right behind the picturesque house was a small barn. He noticed the door was open. Raindrops soon began to fall, and then he decided spending the night there would be the best option.

He ripped open his shirt sleeve and, using his belt, tried to make a makeshift tourniquet around his waist because he couldn't keep losing so much blood.

The small barn had a flock of chickens and a beautiful black horse, definitely a thoroughbred. Whoever owned the place, he would leave early, unnoticed.
