Chapter 217 - Chapter 217: Abyssal Ocean

People had already begun attempting to observe the outside world through high-magnification telescopes. Unfortunately, though Gu You was interested, he figured it was better to focus on cultivation. Once his strength reached a certain level, he could personally go and explore the mysteries himself.

While his thoughts wandered endlessly, Gu You suddenly felt something.

'Who's there?'

Dragon scales instantly covered his arm as he turned and raised it to block.

Bang!

A powerful force slammed into him, sending Gu You flying straight into the ocean.

"This brat's got some bite," Muye muttered, shaking his slightly numb arm with a more serious expression.

Splash! Ice-cold water engulfed his body as he fell in.

In an instant, Gu You felt completely submerged. The surrounding light vanished into darkness.

He couldn't swim.

His lungs screamed for air. Forced to hold his breath, Gu You struggled wildly. But the more he struggled, the deeper he sank. The ocean around him was pitch-black, like an abyss.

His vision blurred as darkness consumed everything. His soul power and bloodline abilities were suppressed by the crushing pressure of the deep sea. His lungs burned as if they might burst.

'I can't just sit here and die!'

Gu You's eyes sharpened. A burst of radiant violet-gold light erupted from his body as his mecha fragments began fusing together. Gleaming metallic wings sprouted from his back.

Twin-winged battle armor!

With a burst of power, his body began to rise. But inside, Gu You was deeply unsettled.

'Muye... better not come at me again.'

But of course, the more you wish something wouldn't happen, the more likely it does. It felt like a massive invisible hand grabbed his throat and yanked him downward.

Gu You struggled furiously, but the grip was unimaginably strong, dragging him deeper into the ocean.

He couldn't cry out. Couldn't breathe. The immense pressure crushed his body. Though strong, his body couldn't hold oxygen forever, and the suffocating pressure rapidly drained what little remained. Pain tore through his chest as if his lungs would explode. His blood boiled under the strain.

Roar!

A mighty dragon's roar burst from his chest as the bloodline in his veins went berserk.

The battle armor wings vanished. In their place, a pair of majestic purple dragon wings unfurled from his back.

With a flap of his wings, Gu You surged upward through the water. Another massive hand reached down—but Gu You sneered and slashed upward. His claws tore through the sea, rending it apart.

"Huh?"

A startled voice echoed in the depths.

With a final burst, Gu You broke the surface and shot up onto the ship's deck.

"You?" he growled, staring at Muye.

"I made the right choice." Muye's tone carried admiration. This boy had managed to escape his grasp.

"You do realize you just ruined a major opportunity for yourself. That was a secret technique of my sect—it could've helped your martial soul undergo a second awakening."

"My martial soul has already awakened a second time," Gu You said flatly.

Muye fell silent.

"You said you'd cook for me. Where's my food?" Gu You grinned, shattering the tension.

"Eat this," Muye's voice came from beside him. A large tray was placed on the table in front of him.

Gu You blinked. 'This old man's speed is insane.'

On the tray were long, dark blue slices of meat—over twenty strips in total.

"What is this?" Gu You asked, drooling.

"Deep-sea thousand-year bluefin tuna belly. The finest cut, richest in oil. Caught one yesterday—these are the best parts, just for you. There's more coming. Eat these first," Muye said calmly.

"Okay!"

The dark blue flesh was obviously fresh—no added seasoning, nothing artificial. Pure, untainted by pollution or radiation.

Gu You grabbed a fork from who-knows-where and bit into a strip. The meat was surprisingly springy, requiring a firm bite to tear. But to his surprise, there was no fishy smell. Instead, a rich umami flavor spread in his mouth. With a few chews, the meat slid down his throat, followed by a warm current that spread through his limbs.

'Wonderful~'

After polishing off the whole tray of sashimi, Muye returned—with another giant tray.

This time, it was a massive grilled fish head, complete with the neck attached. The head alone was half a meter wide, roasted to a golden brown and still sizzling with oil.

The moment it was set down, the aroma wafted across the deck, drawing curious glances from others nearby.

Unbothered, Gu You grabbed two giant forks and dove in.

The grilled fish head and neck had a completely different texture—tender yet springy, and full of collagen. He devoured it ravenously. In just five minutes, all that remained was the bone.

"Now that we're properly acquainted, let me formally introduce myself. I'm Muye, current sect master of the Body Sect, a four-word battle armor master, and a god-rank mecha engineer." Muye proudly raised four fingers.

"Oh," Gu You replied blandly.

"You brat! That's all you have to say!?" Muye fumed.

"You're amazing, truly. Bring me more food later, alright?" Gu You chuckled.

"...You little..." Muye was speechless. This kid was way too much like Zhenhua.

Life at sea was peaceful. Gu You spent the next few days relaxing, eating fresh fish every day.

The journey from the Douluo Continent to the Star Luo Empire took roughly two and a half months—even aboard the most advanced ocean liners.

One night, Gu You returned to the deck alone.

Muye had vanished to who-knows-where.

Gu You leapt into the ocean. His instincts told him something powerful was approaching.

The moonlight painted the sea with a silvery glow. Suddenly, in the distance, faint flashes of silver scales appeared beneath the waves.

'They're here.'

Dozens of dorsal fins broke the surface, slicing through the water like silver arrows—heading straight for him.

Not one, but a whole swarm!

As they closed in, Gu You got a clear look.

Just as he suspected: Devil Soul Great White Sharks—one of the most fearsome apex predators of the sea.

Unless faced with a super-level sea soul beast, these creatures ruled the ocean.

The lead shark was nearly eight meters long, its body pure white like jade, radiating powerful soul energy. It swam with incredible speed—Gu You estimated at least ten thousand years of cultivation.

Gu You stared down the approaching swarm…
