Chapter 214 - Chapter 214: The Banquet

The surroundings were nothing but rolling waves. The sea was crystal clear, and occasionally, one could see large fish swimming past.

Gu You simply stood quietly, taking in the scenery before him.

The ocean liners sailed steadily. Although the two ships were separated by several kilometers, their massive sizes and the lack of obstacles between them made it easy for them to see each other clearly. It had the feeling of mutual vigilance and support.

The sky gradually darkened, and watching the sunset over the sea offered a unique charm.

"Attention, everyone. Attention, everyone." A broadcast suddenly echoed through every cabin on the ship.

"Welcome aboard the Star Luo deep-sea liner. Tonight, we will be hosting a grand banquet in your honor. Please attend in formal attire. This will be a social mixer aimed at fostering lasting friendship between our two continents. We will also feature some fun little games. All are welcome to participate."

Now things were getting interesting.

Gu You smiled faintly and left his cabin.

The banquet required formal wear, and thankfully, Gu You had prepared plenty of clothes in advance.

He selected a white suit, pristine and elegant. The only exception to the uniform white was a touch of blue on the chest—a subtle contrast.

After donning the suit and adjusting his bow tie, Gu You stood in front of the mirror. For a moment, he thought, 'Maybe it's better not to look too long. I might kill myself with how handsome I am.'

Everyone aboard heard the broadcast.

In his cabin, Le Zhengyu was positively gleeful. He was meticulously choosing his outfit. Thanks to his spatial storage device, he had brought quite a wardrobe—too many clothes to fit in just the closet.

"This one. I'll absolutely steal the show tonight!" Le Zhengyu's eyes lit up as he laid a suit on his bed.

This suit was custom-tailored by a renowned designer, adorned with golden clan emblems that paired exquisitely with his flowing golden hair.

"Tonight, I'm going to shine brighter than anyone else." Le Zhengyu said smugly.

After changing into his suit, he stood before the mirror, gazing at himself in admiration.

"I didn't know someone could be this handsome. So handsome that I feel like seducing myself. It's overwhelming."

Adjusting his tie again, he pulled out a white pocket square embroidered with gold and slid it into his chest pocket. Fully satisfied, he opened his door to leave.

Coincidentally, the door across from him also opened—Xu Xiaoyan stepped out at the same time.

They both froze upon seeing each other.

Looking at Le Zhengyu in his immaculate white suit and perfectly combed hair, Xu Xiaoyan felt dazzled for a moment.

Le Zhengyu was just as stunned. Xu Xiaoyan was wearing a short white dress, a sleeveless off-shoulder design paired with a pleated skirt, decorated with tiny golden stars.

It was customary for soul masters to wear clothing themed after their martial souls. Le Zhengyu and Xu Xiaoyan had followed that trend.

But standing across from each other now, they were both surprised at how well their outfits matched. It almost looked like they were wearing couple's attire.

"You look stunning tonight," Le Zhengyu said sincerely.

Xu Xiaoyan rolled her eyes at him. "So do you."

Le Zhengyu nodded, but then frowned a little. 'Hold on, what do you mean so do you? I was calling you beautiful. Don't tell me you think I'm beautiful? I'm supposed to be handsome, not pretty!'

The banquet hall on the Star Luo liner was located on the second level. It was a spacious room large enough to accommodate over a thousand guests. By the time most people arrived, it was already bustling with activity.

Since it was a social mixer, all the chairs and tables had been removed. Instead, high cocktail tables were spread throughout the hall, each topped with small snacks and beverages.

It was clear both the Star Luo Empire and the Douluo Federation had put a lot of effort into this event. Both sides were eager to build closer relations. The hall itself was lavishly decorated, gold and glitter gleaming from every corner. One by one, representatives from the various delegations entered in formal attire, and the room soon filled with lively chatter and elegance.

All the drinks served were sparkling wines. The carbonation allowed the alcohol to be absorbed quickly into the bloodstream, often making people feel light and cheerful almost instantly. Sparkling wine had earned the nickname: the happiest wine.

The room was filling up fast. Everyone present was a representative of their respective continents—leaders and elites from all walks of life. Among them, the students from Shrek Academy were undoubtedly the youngest.

Gu You arrived among the early guests and soon spotted Cai Yue'er and Wu Zhangkong.

Cai Yue'er wore a silver-white gown that was both elegant and regal. There was a subtle radiance about her that defied explanation, captivating all eyes the moment she appeared.

Although her features were aged, for some reason, everyone who looked at her felt she exuded a timeless beauty that couldn't be put into words.

Wu Zhangkong stood alone in a corner, sipping a glass of ice water. If Cai Yue'er hadn't insisted he attend, he wouldn't have come. He disliked crowded places.

He wore his usual attire—a simple white shirt and trousers—utterly ordinary at first glance. But on him, the ensemble exuded grace and an unapproachable air.

Even standing in the corner, it didn't take long before seven different women, confident in their own appearances, had come to strike up a conversation with him.

Wu Zhangkong, ever polite, turned each one down with a cold expression and a shake of his head. He stood like a mountain of snow, exuding a chilling aura.

Still, the women didn't go far. They lingered nearby, casting infatuated glances his way. With his tall build, striking features, long flowing hair, and frosty temperament, Wu Zhangkong was the very embodiment of a prince from a fairy tale.

Although formal attire had been recommended, it wasn't strictly enforced. Those in casual clothing were also permitted entry.

"Welcome, everyone, to tonight's banquet!" A voice boomed across the hall.

"I am Sima Lanxiao, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Star Luo Empire. I'm honored to see so many friends from the Douluo Continent. Tonight, let's drink until we're merry! There will be fun mini-games, and we'll also be choosing the best-dressed gentleman and lady, the most handsome man and most beautiful woman, and the best dance couple. Each of them will receive special prizes courtesy of the Star Luo Empire!"

Sima Lanxiao was a tall, well-built middle-aged man with striking features and golden hair. His voice carried a deep magnetism that easily drew people in.
