Chapter 1 - The Weeping Sky

The world seemed still, silent even but that was nothing but a facade meant to lure weaker prey out. In this silence a creature seem to awake unaware of the new world.

She awoke to the feeling of dizziness as she felt her head, she thought out loud " Where am I " confusion evident in her voice. She looked around as wariness filled her expression. Yet all she saw was a forest and she was in the middle of a clearing. The more she looked the more anxious she felt.

Trees, trees, small trees, big trees, and just more trees but there was something particular about these trees. The colors were oddly mismatched. Some being orange and red or purple and green or just entirely yellow. It was an odd site she thought. Attempting to get up, she immediately fell to the ground or more like her knees couldn't support her. Looking down she was shocked at the discovery that her body was oddly shaped. Trembling she looked at her claws? Shock set in as she couldn't take any more surprises,

What's happening to me?

What am I?

Who am I?

Where am I?

Water droplets slowly hit her as she regained consciousness only questions filled her mind, what exactly was she? ' A lizard? ' but as the thought came to her head more questions a cloud started to form in the sky, almost reflecting the number of questions she had.

Are lizards supposed to be this big?

What type of lizard was she?

Did lizards have spikes?

Do lizards normally have so many thoughts?

She had so many questions yet no one to answer them. Looking up at the sky as if it would give her an answer yet all it showed were streaks of lightning.

Signing in hopelessness she couldn't help but cry silent tears, she didn't know who she was, what she was, or even know where her home is. I dare say anyone would cry in frustration.

To anyone who would stumble upon her at this very moment, only a large lizard-looking creature with a mournful expression could be seen. As if the heavens heard her grief it cried with her, raining heavier, drowning out her already silent wails.

As it rained heavier she couldn't help but hurdle closer to herself not moving an inch from the spot she had awoken to.

All she could do was cry and let out her frustrations in a roar. It poured heavier and heavier, and in 10 minutes a small pool of water had formed around her. In her frustration, she tried walking once again but once again she couldn't even stand.

' WHY '

' WHY CAN'T I WALK '

The fact that walking had become a task angered her so much that she clawed at the ground in anger, upon seeing the small hole she dug in a short time she thought of crawling. Seeing the tree as her only destination, it became needed.

' Come on come on '

' Just a little further '

Finally, she had managed to get under the tree but at the cost of her body being covered in mud and muddy water. Frowning in deep dissatisfaction with her current inconvenience, her inability to walk.

Tired from the overstimulation of the current day's event, she drifted to a soft sleep unaware of the dangers of the current world.

In her dream...

A grassland but the grass was unsettling white yet it made her feel a sense of familiarity.

As she explored the grassland she was met with absolutely nothing once again. Sadden by her discovery once again she said in a disheartened tone " I don't want to be alone " as she bowed her head in defeat.

Was it too much to ask?

She awoke to loneliness and still went to sleep in loneliness.

" You are never alone " a soft voice echoed in her head

Immediately her head shot up looking for the source of the voice. As she franticly searched for the voice she saw no one in sight.

" You won't be able to see me ", As she took the time to listen to the voice, she could tell it was a man's voice.

" Whose there," she said wariness laced her words but inwardly she rejoiced as she encountered another creature, her loneliness had started to encroach on her mind.

" Fear not. I am not your enemy " the voice said in a hurry almost as if worried such a thought would cross her mind.

" I will be the judge of that, " She said, looking around more warily.

' A Friend? ' she mentally contemplated ' or a Foe '

" Who are you? Where are you? Why are you in my dreams? " she bombarded him with questions not giving him a moment to breathe.

" Slow down, slow down " the voice sounded distressed at so many questions at a time.

" First of, my name is Harlan, I am inside your soul and this place is not exactly your dream but your soulplace "

The more answers she got the more confused she became. She's never heard of the name Harlan before and what does he mean he's 'inside' my soul.

' IS HE A PARASITE? ' as if sensing her thoughts he responded quickly " I assure you it is not what you may be thinking ".

" How can I trust you " she said questioning him. " Then don't " not a heartbeat was missed before he stated those very words.

Irritated she scoffed at such a reply " ok then, but what is a soulplace and why are you in mine? " she inquired.

' I still think he's a parasite ' she thought awaiting his answers.

" A soulplace is the very inside of a creature's soul, and as to why I'm inside yours " he stopped, building up a momentum.

" I just thought it looked cozy " he said rather nonchalantly but a grin could be heard in his voice

' THAT'S IT??! ' she had expected more of Harlan but was rather disappointed by such a reply.

" You're no help " sighing in frustration she plopped on the grass in defeat deciding to ignore that 'annoying' in her head til she figures what to do.
