Chapter 263: Speak Up
September 10th, Teacher's Day.
After school yesterday, the class cadres of Senior Year, Class 6 discussed and, following tradition, took some money from the class fund and bought several bouquets of flowers to give to the homeroom teacher and the subject teachers on Teacher's Day. Some students also bought or made greeting cards to give to their teachers.
In this era, that's pretty much what Teacher's Day was like, still quite simple. Over a decade later, a distasteful trend of trying to outdo each other with expensive gifts for teachers on Teacher's Day emerged. Only after the Ministry of Education issued a document strictly prohibiting this behavior did that trend stop. But in the year 2001, Teacher's Day still consisted of a few bouquets and greeting cards.
